Work Experience
DKB can offer work experience placements for those who wish to become reacquainted with the ethos of the workplace.
Work experience initiatives are an excellent way for a person to demonstrate their worth. For those on Jobseekers Allowance and enrolled in the New Deal scheme there is a financial enhancement to the regular benefit payment.
If a person has already decided on a career direction, a placement which targets their chosen trade or profession can be accommodated.
For
someone who is
uncertain
as to how they would like their working life to develop, a ‘taster’
scheme
might be appropriate.
A taster scheme is
vocational in nature and
introduces a
person to a number of different career possibilities by getting them to
perform
activities more commonly associated with single skill
tradesmen.
A construction orientated taster would entail skills such as plastering, carpentry and decorating at a minimum, and such schemes are renowned for bringing hidden talents to the surface and building self-confidence.
